I think the new FarRiders forum (link in Davo's first post) speaks for itself - members joining faster than a Davo East-West run (and that's pretty
fast!!!

They made their own patch, that's how. Told me they had never heard of the Iron Butt Association and made up their own. Yeah
There are 2 types of motorcyclists in the world, FarRiders & those that wish they were...

After reading everyones thoughts today and as they matched mine I have decided that we should move the FarRiders forums to their own home. Link in first post.
I took in everything said and feel that with the growth its best to do it now rather than end up with too much info spread between two forums. I will as time permits copy paste topics across. On the matter of a Club. I have no plans to go down this road for many reasons most of which have been echoed by members above in this topic. I do however understand the genuine concern by some about liability which would sit on my shoulders should someone get on the high horse and decide to take legal action. In this case it may not be the FarRider who would never dream of such a thing, it would be their family after an event. One of our members has been working on an online registration for FarRides which will store your information and you will just log onto the site and check a box saying you will be attending that FarRide. The rest will be updated by the database. Part of that is a disclaimer or acceptance by the rider to certain conditions, this must be checked to move forward and register for the ride. I have had many words with people one of which was noted in a post above when a story was run in that magazine. It's felt that this should cover what we are doing. BUT who would really know until tested. Do we live our lives so concerned for what may happen or get on with living. Its irresponsible to just do things without thought but once done what else can you do but move forward. Donations For now lets let it stay as is, but at FarRides if a container was there for voluntary donations to the team of a gold coin then so be it. Maybe someone would do that on my behalf. But I do not want it to be pay or not ride. I also am posting this here rather than the new forum because this is where the existing membership know as home. Let us founding members carry this forward. A recent member told me he felt honoured to be part of such a group so early in its life, or words like that. I don't know about the rest of you but I sure as heck do, its the dawn of something huge. Take care and see you all on the new forum.

Bravo Davo - see you there!
Cheers, Craig
When was the last time you just got up and went for a drive? Not to anywhere not for anything, just for drive. You see, motorcyclists do it all the time, so why don't human beings? Jeremy Clarkson |

As in I already had these guys and gals out riding more than most already as most GTR owners do. For me it goes back to actually starting GTR-AUS, that grew slowing for quite some time. Many months we had only a handful of posts, look at it today. I have been fortunate in life to always have good people around me, or do good people naturally find each other. |
