Phil - I think you have a max of 400 kw from the alternator on the Bandit. If you are not running any other hi-power devices like heated clothing or grips etc, then you should have the capacity to run a pair of 55w lights. These will give good light without being too taxing on the electrics. Just be wary of a few things - The wiring kits that come with lights are pretty marginal, especially in the wires that run the power from the battery to the relay, and the relay to the lights. Consider upgrading these wires. Go to a marine shop and get a waterproof switch.

Some of the really small and convenient driving lights are crap. Don't waste your money. The reflectors are too small to be of any use. Some of the better ones like Narva (as I found out) have brackets that can't handle the inherent vibration that many bikes have. You are unlikely to have the power to run a pair of 100w lights in my opinion, even if you direct-wire everything from the battery or starter lead. Constant use at night will kill the battery, so unless you can get a realistic amp draw calculation going and do the sums, be wary of 'over-powering' the system.

Good 55w lights in a reasonable size will work fine, but it means putting on the biggest lights you can fit on the bike. Deep reflectors give distance. Large diameter reflectors give spread.
