When will you have the bike back for prognosis?

Mate, it's starting to look like you're jinxed when it comes to FarRides...
There are 2 types of motorcyclists in the world, FarRiders & those that wish they were...

HAHA Rob, I think so....I'm going for a record in the biggest number of non-attendances at FarRides!!!
Craig, how did your run go? We will have to catch up somewhere along the way. I know that Davo was talking about a FarRide with the BMW Club Vic, so there may well be a southern FarRide on offer which would be an easy one for us. With a little luck, if I break down I should be able to push it that far!!!

Minor delay for us. | ||
|
Hi All
Charleen and I got back home this morning. She was four hours late for work. How sad. All went well for us as we had actually completed two versions of a FarRide. We did 575 from Brisbane to Tamworth then 496 from Tamworth to Tottenham so a total of 1071 in 24hrs. But I like to do it all in one actual day, so we headed off after lunch and made it to Warialda by 7:30pm, making Saturday's total 1083. Another 475 home on Sunday would have seen us complete another 1000+ in 24hrs if we made it home by 1:00pm. But just outside Warwick my rear tyre let go. Turned out to be the valve stem so not fixable by normal roadside methods. We towed back in to Warwick so only 923km in the 24hrs. Got it repaired this morning (Monday). Then the final leg home by lunchtime. Total km for the weekend - 2159. Great ride - good group - Thanks Davo Sorry to hear about Bandit and OX34's problems. Glad you're both OK. Makes mine trivial. Left the rally about 9.30 and headed south toward Bendigo. Rolled into bendigo cold but dry after the rain stopped at west wyalong. The FJ flipped over on its
side during the night at the rally. Ordered a new mirror from the Yamaha shop here in Bendigo should be here Tuesday early. $175

.... Sorry to hear about Bandit and ox. But
you both have a new story to tell. Now where to ride to next..... Three
weeks left to just to cruise..
cheers

Damn, that's one out with an accident, one with major mechanical failure, one damaged, and one other towed with tyre damage. The bigger the turn out, the
more the casualties.....
I sailed through Bendigo before 2am on Friday morning, should have joined me :D

First Far Ride | ||
|
Greetings, all.
Just a quick note to say how much I enjoyed my first Far Ride - and that I hope that it is the first of many! After having a quick bite at the cafe for lunch - (we felt sorry for the cafe owner - biggest bunch of captive coffee addicts for a long time, and his coffee machine broke down a couple of days before) - we headed down to Condoblin, Lake Cargelligo, Rankin Springs to our overnight stop at Hay, which we arrived at 1830, with an odo reading of 1048.5 km for the day. Great fun! The next morning, heading into a gale, we headed back to Melbourne via Echuca, Rochester, Heathcote, Lancefield and then down the Calder. Here are a couple of photos: ![]()

Wow! What an eventful FarRide (aren't they all?)! Glad to hear that we all made it home in one piece without major injury, hardware not withstanding.
Bandit12, you WILL make it to a FarRide! For my part, on heading home after lunch I managed to puncture the rear on that dirt stretch just outside of Tottenham heading to Nyngan. The tyre pressure sensors are a bonus! Started flashing with 180kpa then 170kpa but I could still manage a good clip. About 20k's out from Nyngan down to 70kpa and slowed to 100kph got to Nyngan with 50kpa and only then did the rear start to get loose. What to do at Nyngan as I had no repair kit, well as you do, you hope that a servo will help out. At the Caltex, they said try the Shell which was virtually next door. The young chap (Aaron?) at the Shell servo could put a bung (dog turd as he called it) into the puncture (caused by a stone and near smack dead centre of the tyre) but had never done it on a m/c tyre before. Go ahead I implored, he did and I was good to go, only lost about 15~20 mins travel time including the fuel up. I've done over a 1000k's since then and the pressure has not changed so the bung had done the trick. Heading off again and the wind had picked up and ended up being dusty with a big head/cross wind until around sunset. Had a couple of close shaves with roos and goats on the last 100k's or so but nothing serious and had plenty of time to avoid an incident. All in all I had a good ride on the Saturday apart from the wind for the 1358k round trip and it was great to see so many of us like minded riders at Tottenham. I would've liked to have started to met and greet with a lot more of you but needed to get back home as my son rode up from Adelaide that Saturday for the first time on a m/c and on his L's. We had a great ride together on the Sunday of nearly 300k's and I'm proud to say he's doing ok for a learner! Until next time remember, it's just a road!
Ride report is here

That I certainly will Kwaka....I've been waiting for nearly 18 months now, not giving up till I get there!!!
Grey Gentry, thanks for the offer Ron. Looks like the bike will be couriered down to Mildura tomorrow, sleep in a depot and end up on the back of a TOLL truck heading back here soon. The hunt is on for another donk....or a GTR1400 :-)

Funnily enough, my last Kwaka did me fine for 200 thou over 3 years (GPZ1000RX) and the GTR thou engine was based on the same bike. So I'm kinda partial
to a Kawasaki, but I'll leave the Kermit frog green shirts to others
Thanks for the number Davo, not that I ever really minded cause I knew I was a bonafide member anyway. It's a bit like the IBA certs - fantastic to have on the wall, great talking point, but when I'm out on the road, cold, wet, tired and having a hoot, a cerficate or number is the last thing on my mind. Usually I'm thinking of lunch ![]()
