Its all on the site that you all agreed to by registering.
LINK 16. Q. What about daylight saving time or time zones, how does that work. A. Time to meet is based on the time zone of the destination point on the day. |

I knew that mate, but anyone else reading this topic may not have known. You may be amazed at the questions I get emailed about information that they should
have read. I think I have covered everything on the FarRiders site but if anyone can see something that needs clarification please let me know. Its a work in
progress.
This site and FarRiders gets a huge amount of hits and visitors that just read. |

Honestly, you couldn't have covered it much more thoroughly. It's like the IBA stuff, sometimes a bit of a pain in the a$$ to work through, but without
it would be bedlam.
Looking forward to getting on the road, went for a quick blast up to Gilgandra last weekend to warm up and every day now I'm gazing at the road longingly!!!!

Ok Davo, was my email to you considered notification for the 2,000 kilometers in 24 hours (SaddleSore 2000K), attempt - Mount Pleasant to Tottenham and
return?
Another question. As I intend to leave Mount Pleasant at midnight 12th of September to be at the designated lunch/turn around point by 11.30 the next day (1,083km) - do I
still have to get a dated fuel receipt or will the start time witness suffice? I will have a SPOT activated for the run - for which I will need to talk to you
as well. This will also figure in the finish time, as there are no petrol stations within cooee of Mount Pleasant and I will be arriving back home late at
night.

However, from the rules "If you choose a route where you ride 750 kilometers and then turn around and come back, you must get a dated receipt at the turn
around point" can I find and use you as an official "turn around time witness" ?
Yes you can use me but make sure you have a spare witness form with you. I would still get a docket from somewhere in Tottenham if it were me. All stops and all corners must be marked by a docket. This will also figure in the finish time, as there are no petrol stations within cooee of Mount Pleasant and I will be arriving back home late at night. The docket starts the clock and a docket stops the clock, when I leave here at midnight there are also no servo's open. I go to one of the banks in town and do a balance check on an account. Make sure (test it out before) that it has Town / Date / Time on it and that its all correct. Also if you are using this method your fuel tank MUST be full to start as they calculate fuel use as well to prove you really did the ride. A signed witness forum will NOT count as a start time, it merely proves a human being saw you, your bike and your odo reading.

Thanks Davo, all clear now. There is a teller machine across the road from Ryecroft, I'll make sure the balance check thing works.
Also will print out another witness form for you to fill out in Tottenham. Cheers, Craig

Bring a few, we will all sign it Actually that is sort of what I am planning too, except that I am doing a SS2000K, catch a couple of hours sleep and then another 500 for a BB2500K at the
finish line. Advisable to not have a big lunch either - from others who have done Farrides as part of an IBA run, when you stop in the middle, socialise and
eat, it makes you very drowsy afterwards

Absolutely right, stopping is not good anyway but having a big meal can be disastrous.

Got this just now:
_____________________ A bit of a note to you all following up on various inquiries about the Far Cairn Rally in the last few months.
Firstly thanks for the interest you have shown and the support you've given to help get this event up and running..
The Motorcycle Accident Rehabilitation Initiative (MARI) has a very special place in our hearts at the BMW Touring Club of NSW, as two of our members, George and Charis Schwarz started it. All proceeds from their self published book, Highlights of the Road were donated to establish the seed for the MARI funding.
Both George and Charis are 'Friends of the Marque' , recognition by BMW of their lifelong commitment and support to BMW motorcycling and along with DU, their R50 they will be at the Far Cairn Rally. We are also hoping that some of the MARI team from St Vincent's will be there and able to meet many of us and help spread the word re MARI
At a recent meeting at St Vincent's it was very pleasing to learn that since it was started, over 100 riders who presented at Emergency, were offered assistance through MARI. St Vincent's believe they are close to having enough data to now seek government funding to move from an 'Initiative' to a 'Program". The submission to Government is likely to cost close to $10,000 and this is one of the areas that our Rally proceeds may be channelled. The funds already in MARI need to be focused on supporting the fallen riders!
If we can secure Government support then we really will be on the way to realising the dream of having a similar program in every major hospital in NSW.- as Armstrong said "that's one small step…." We have only two weeks to go, the Far Cairn rally is intended to be a meet and greet for riders and a back to basics rally with a difference.
The locals have been terrific in their welcome and encouragement to get this off the ground. The local auxiliary may even be providing afternoon tea and refreshments on Saturday and have volunteered to help out on Sunday as well. The Far Cairn has the potential to not only be good for motorcyclists but we'll also be helping out a country town that has been doing it tough.
The aim is to raise funds for MARI - the badges and T Shirts look great. BMW Motorrad Australia has generously donated a jacket and two pairs of boots to be used as major raffle prizes
While at this stage we really have no idea of numbers, we know that Davo Jones and his FarRiders will be about 35 strong in number plus the boys from Qld and SA. If any of you have any further queries please don't hesitate to give me a call or drop me a line
Thanks again for your help, no matter how small - MARI is a cause that helps Motorcyclists, started by riders and supported by riders
See you in two weeks

Aussiedav wrote:Just a query about the road being all tar, there are several roads to Tottenham, the roads from Nevertire and Trangie are shown on my maps to be tar. But the road from the south - Tullamore, Trundle and Bogan Gate is shown on my (slightly old) map as being dirt. Anyone know if it is dirt or tar? No big thing being dirt its just that it changes the estimate of travelling time - only takes a sandy or muddy stretch to add heaps of time.

My map showed a small section of dirt between Tullamore and Tottenham. Spoke to the Hotel manager and he confirms that it is now all good sealed road. That means all sealed from Bogan Gate to Tottenham
