Davo, was wondering about extra luggage for our planne october trip to qland, saw a pic of griff with extras strapped on the panniers and top box. is there any adverse effects on handling etc, will be two up as usual. comments from all welcome.  also any comments on melb, oberon ,orange narrabri to coomera planned

I have traveled at pace tens of thousands of klms like that on Griff with no noticeable difference to handling or anything.

davo, thanks for the reply, want to carry a sensible amount of luggage for two without compromising comfort and handling. will be staying at upper coomera with
Fayes brother and family, may be able to catch up for a chat.
what sort of time frame would be involved in travel from your area to Perth at a comfy pace and two up. have two daughters in the navy based in WA, Faye wants to return to Tas after Q/land and fly to WA for a week, I was contemplating riding from Q/land to Perth and then back to Melb, and return to Tas on the boat. Any suggestions on fuel costs, accomadation from Q/land to Perth at a suitable pace???? Regards, leo & Faye |

Leo the time would be determined by what you can or want to do for a daily average. Its just over 4500klms from here to Perth, I can tell you how long it takes
me but everyone has their own pace. Even at 500klm days its going to take a while. On the leg across the bottom Ceduna to Norseman 1200klms most do it in two
days but its an easy FULL day to many others.
So can't really help, you have to work out how far each day. A week for many, two days to some. |

Leo,
I am figuring that as I have not had the chance to ride the Port Augusta to Busselton before my intent is to travel around 500 km a day, that way I will not be just looking at a "white line." After I have made my way from Scarborough in Qld to Broken Hill ???. From Broken Hill I am heading to Port Lincoln (to pick up passenger) then to Streaky Bay, Ceduna, Eucla, Norseman, Albany, Busselton. A couple of 700km stretches there, but hey who is hurrying ! This is time off work and aren't I looking forward to that! Not sure on the best route from Qld to Port Lincoln as yet........suggestions greatly appreciated. Kangas

I run Warwick > Goondiwindi > Gilgandra > NeverTire > Cobar and Broken Hill. You would then ride to Port Augusta and down the coast to Port Lincoln
which is a great spot by the way.

Nice low cost park at Elliston further on from PL heading to Streaky Bay, Rob, Glenn, Dianne and I stayed there once.
