Can anybody suggest the safest way to carry spare fuel? I was thinking of a plastic 5lt gerry can stored in the seat bag.

Safest is a proper aux fuel tank but on the two double crossings of Aust I did last year on the stock 1400GTR I carried a 5 litre plastic fuel container in a
pannier so not much different from what you are saying. BUT get a good strong thick one, not the flimsy ones at most car parts places. I actually got mine
(thick black one with light yellow caps) from SupaCheap but look about.

Thanks for the tip Dave. We're riding to Perth from Brisbane. Probably won't need the spare fuel, but the Blackbird can get a little thirsty and
I'd like some insurance when we cross the Nullabor (particularly if I give it a twist on the long straight bit)

I agree that carry a bit spare in case also a few litres of water. There are fuel places but you never know what can happen if you break down and have no
water.
Note: Yalata has no fuel |
