The Snowy Ride 2009

Did the annual Snowy Ride this weekend. For those who are unfamiliar, it's on every year at Thredbo NSW and has been for the past few years. Raises funds for kids cancer. Some of the best roads in Aus around the Aussie alps. Great weather as well. Over 3,000 bikes attended. Only saw a couple of GTR14's and one GTR1000. Spoke to the GTR1000 rider who has never heard of our website, so put him in the picture.

I have an idea. We all have various bits and pieces squirreled away. I thought we could have a running list stickyed up somewhere. Maybe it could be grouped into subsections like suspension, engine etc. Could also work with special tools you've made.
So, if you needed something, you just click and send a private message.
I thought as we're all on the same bikes, we could help each other out and not charge postage etc, and maybe if you grab something off someone, you buy a...

WA GTR rider, who were you?

Last Sunday, Eyre Highway between Cocklebiddy and Balladonia WA. (more near Ball). I was in a Pajero with caravan, got overtaken about 10:00am ish by a GTR 1400 with a GTRAUS sticker on the back and 2 big aerials. I assumed one was a UHF so I gave a holler on ch 40 but no reply.

Just curious who it was and hope you had a good trip.

Stayupright course

Finally got around to doing the Stayupright Advanced 1 course. What an eye opener.I would thoroughly recommend it to anyone. Things I had never heard about like counter steering and being able to do a U turn without putting my foot down...it's great. ( and I didn't drop the bike either)

Am considering shipping "Le Noir" to England doing the IOM TT and a few other races and a bit of a tour of the continent.
Also anybody know of or interested in such a tour in 2010 ?

Hi everyone! Long time GTR fan, new to GTR-AUS forum.
I'm Cam, an everyday rider and technical sort of guy. I just put a deposit on my third GTR1000 (no I don't still have the other two) so I thought I'd say hello. I look forward to getting back on a GTR for doing some serious miles. I also have a sportbike but I find I'm just not getting any touring done on it, and the conflicting requirements of sport/racetrack versus touring comfort are too hard to reconcile.

This is rather handy....

Davo Memorial Sticker

First I wish to offer my condolences on the loss of Davo, I was fortunate to meet him 2 weeks ago in Spartanburg prior to his ultimate journey. I am a member of the MTF and live in Maryland.

Members of the MTF have been discussing the idea of having memorial stickers made for Davo. I am posting a link to the thread so you can join in the discussion. Proceeds from the sale would go to Davo's family.

Ask lots of questions if interested in this bike, somethign doesn't add up.
Ad says 36k kms, but it has new, aftermarket front rotors.
No one can go through rotors in 36k kms!

Brisbane CBD Bike parking....aaarrgh!

I had an appointment in the city today, and thought id take the bike seeing as the footpath bike parking area on Turbot St was close to my destination.

What a mistake that was. I rode up ramp onto the 1.5m wide footpath, and tootled along till i found an empty bike park. Alas, the parking bays are more designed with scooters in mind! Here i am on the GTR, with no hope of fitting into one of the parkign bays. So i thought, no problem, the gutter is way to high to ride off onto the...
